Welcome
to Chaos Junior
Chaos Junior was started in 2003 as a
spin off of the Colorado Hiking and Outdoor Society (CHAOS).
We
are now a group of over 40 families that love to get together
to go hiking, camping, backpacking, biking, snow shoeing and
cross-country skiing.
|
 |
Mission
Chaos Junior strives to be an informal, Boulder-based group of
non-competitive, environmentally conscious families who enjoy
self-powered, self-organized, backcountry-style activities
such as hiking, camping, backpacking, biking, snow shoeing and
cross-country skiing.

Trip
Organization
Chaos
Junior is simply a network of families that enjoy self-organized,
self-powered, back-country adventures. Thus it is up to you to organize
the trips you want to go on. It is really easy to organizing an event.
Just come up with an idea and put it out over our email list. Once you
find out who wants to join in, you can work out the details and be on
your way. To help encourage everyone to organize events and to avoid
legal issues, all events are considered private with the organizers
retaining the right to plan their activity as they please. So please do
not feel offended if an organizer decides to keep a trip small,
requires a certain skill level, or only invites those they know they
will enjoy traveling with.

Hootenannies
*
Throughout
the year, members organize larger group trips called Hootenannies.
These trips are a great way to meet other families and
make some new friends. Most
Hootenannies tend to be car camping trips in the summer when we
can reserve a large
group camp site.
* Hoo·te·nan·ny, noun, 1. a
festivity where everyone who shows up picks up an object and
makes noise with it. 2.
a social gathering featuring folk singing.
3. a thingamajig

Conservation
Ethic
By traveling light and reducing impact on the areas visited, we strive to instill respect for the environment through
modeling a conservation ethic.
|
 |
Money
The only money involved will be the sharing of expenses generated by the
people at the event, such as paying for a group campsite.
